Teacher, Business And Finance Academy (Bfa) At Channel Islands High School
CurrentTeach sophomores, juniors and seniors business lessons. Juniors and Seniors participate in business plan and trade show competitions/exhibitions. They also earn college credits for their junior and senior year coursework. All students attend business-related field trips and benefit from business professional guest speakers in class.Co-Advise Student Leadership Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO)Sophomores are introduced to and learn a multitude of business topics: Business Ethics, Professionalism, Customer Service, Business Communications, Management, Entrepreneurship, and Personal Finance. The also take career tests, conduct career research projects and prepare their first resume. Juniors learn Basic Accounting, work on Accounting Projects and then formulate teams wherein they create formal Business Plans and pitch their plans in Project Echo Competition at UCLA or Aspire 3 competition in Ventura County. They then update their resumes.Seniors create a virtual business in class, interview for positions in their business, conduct leadership and department meetings, and create marketing materials including business logo, slogan, business cards, trifold brochures, website, sales catalogs, billboard, trade show booth decorative items, etc. They then compete in the LA area Virtual Enterprise Competition. They also learn Economics and update their resumes again at the end of the school year.
