BIOGRAPHYEileen Meehan attended Quinnipiac University from 1986-1988, and then transferred and graduated from Southern Connecticut State University in 1990. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Corporate Communication with a Minor in Management. She is currently employed by Yale New Haven Health as the System Grievance Coordinator. PROFESSIONAL HIGHTLIGHTSAs the Inpatient Grievance Coordinator Eileen is responsible for all allegations of physical and sexual assault, abuse and neglect. Partners with senior leaders regarding adverse events. Eileen also guides the Patient Representatives with their grievances and edits their subsequent closure letters. Eileen has spoken, conducted workshops, and led seminars in her areas of expertise for healthcare professionals, private long term care facilities, and local Connecticut corporations, including the former SNET and Ronald McDonald House. Her topics of interest are: customer service for the corporate professional, service recovery in healthcare, patient rights, advance directives, and managing the difficult customer. She was the guest speaker at the state conference of Patient Advocates in Tennessee, and a featured speaker at the National Society for Healthcare Consumer Advocacy held in Disney Village, Orlando. While at the former Hospital of Saint Raphael Eileen was the hospital instructor on Patient Rights and Care of the Elderly for the Certified Nurse’s Aid program, developed the general orientation program on customer service and patient rights for all new employees, was a facilitator for the customer service initiative, was on the planning committee for the employee rewards program, and also marketed, developed, and wrote the permanent bedside patient handbook, which was a monumental cost savings initiative. While at Yale New Haven Hospital Eileen was the featured speaker at the Emergency Department Faculty Retreat, completed the Aspiring Managers course, completed the CLEAR training program, and was awarded the “Nurses Choice Award” in 2016. Eileen’s writing skills were rewarded with a short story published in the healthcare book entitled: Everyday Heroes.
