About Eileen Dennie
Versatile communicator with demonstrated ability to take a campaign from vision to execution, manage multiple channels and deadlines, and put people first.Every good project begins with listening. I’m passionate about listening to people and partnering with them to find their voice, creating a strategy and campaign to meet their needs and solve their problem, and then following through with the communications plan. Because I’m versatile, I complement any team. My co-workers have called me a cheerleader, a partner, and even a Swiss Army knife. ✴ Cheerleader: Depending on who else is at the table, I can be a leader or I can take direction and be a valued contributor. I step in where needed and cheer on the effort.✴ Partner: Relationships are important to me. People know they can come to me for help with communication needs, and I will partner with them to figure it out and get it done strategically. ✴ Swiss Army knife: Because I've developed so many different types of messages, I have the confidence and experience to try just about anything. I've also learned to tackle all aspects of a project, from listening to generating ideas to execution of those ideas, which sometimes means learning new tools to make it all happen. I can troubleshoot intranet (Salesforce-based Simpplr) issues, design a header image in Canva, format a newsletter in Dreamweaver, build surveys in Survey Monkey, analyze email results with ContactMonkey, and update projects in Asana. We communicators do it all, right?I consider myself balanced, empathetic, compassionate, creative, detail-oriented, very organized, and self-motivated.

Enterprise Communications Manager
Communications Manager
After a year and a half working for KAR's subsidiary, ADESA, I was promoted to communications manager for the umbrella organization, KAR Global, responsible for internal communications, including change management communications, employee engagement efforts, intranet articles and updates, company-wide campaigns, local/company-wide newsletters, leadership profiles, and thought leadership pieces. Later, I championed KAR's corporate social responsibility efforts, including the company's Leap Into Service (paid volunteer time), Jefferson Award nominees, and KAR's Employee Assistance Fund. In this additional role, I coordinated not just the communications about these programs, but also the program participation too. My biggest challenge: Interesting a diverse group of 15,000 employees to engage with the company intranet, empowering them to find answers to questions and feel not only informed about company news but positive about the company culture. My biggest accomplishment: Learning to use numerous tools and platforms, including Simpplr (Salesforce-based), WordPress, ContactMonkey, Survey Monkey, jotform, Asana and Canva, empowering myself to get the job done in the best possible way.
Communications Specialist
As part of the marketing/communications team for a large corporation, I wrote and edited all types of messaging and assured branding standards were followed in press releases, blog posts, social media posts, video scripts and various other communications for both internal and external audiences. My biggest challenge: Creating the company's first meaningful employee newsletter. I led the evolution of the company-wide weekly enewsletter from a collection of links to media articles to a respected communication that employees relied upon for their news about benefits, leadership messages, employee profiles and culture stories.
Content Team
As part of the content team, I wrote magazine features, organized manuals into web pages, edited presentations, and created toolkits and service bulletins for special projects. I served as a go-to person when the project involved lots of details or organization. Branching out to other departments within the Kiwanis organization, I worked across teams to write and edit long-form manuals, voice-over scripts for training videos, catalog descriptions and messaging for campaign collateral. The diverse project list and chance to work with many different people made this a fantastic experience and a great opportunity to grow my expertise.
Editor & Writer
As a freelance editor, I contributed to thousands of projects in a myriad of formats: calendars, books, two local magazines, marketing collateral, web copy and a travel blog. Because every project and every client was different, I learned to enter each relationship with an open mind, really listen to the request, and confidently make suggestions based on my knowledge and capabilities.
Web Content Manager
In this role -- one of my favorites -- I learned a lot about travel content and audiences while writing posts for a member-only travel blog, myRCI.com. This weekly content educated RCI members about amenities and attractions near available condo inventory, encouraging them to make the most of their membership opportunities. Not only did I write and schedule the content, but as our team was downsized, I learned to post verbiage and photos on the platform, hack previous posts to create new ones, and manipulate HTML code to format the posts.
Estimator/Csr
I served the company's clients and sales people as a customer service representative and job planner/estimator. This was during the early days of technology, when email was a new form of client communication and estimating software was rather primitive. I bought my first Mac during this period and learned QuarkXPress so I'd understand the basics of what I was estimating in prepress. I worked with an extraordinary group of people from whom I learned so much, and I'm still in contact with many of them.
