Coined after the name of the old hollywood style building I lived in when first moving to Los Angeles, I began blogging through LA LOVETTA as a way to document my new adventure out on the West Coast, but it quickly turned into a way to connect with others in LA all while putting my marketing expertise into practice. I’ve partnered with several brands over the years including Google, Eero, Method Home, Purina, Healthade Kombucha and Parachute Home to name a few.
Digital Marketing Manager
Ann Williams is the home of creative craft kits for makers of all ages. #wherefunrulesI moved back home to Detroit in November of 2016 to work freelance with this family-owned business that’s doing great things in the world of crafting. I oversaw AWG’s digital marketing efforts including paid, social & search advertising, AMS, SEO & SEM, email marketing, social media, content, brand partnerships, affiliate marketing, influencer outreach, and public relations.
Creative Director
Create & Cultivate is a movement for women looking to create and cultivate the career of their dreams.Collaborated with founder Jaclyn to reimagine and reposition C&C as an entrepreneurial conference for women in partnership with Digital Brand Architects, including overall structure and creation of the conference concept. Director Of Strategy
Several months after I began freelancing, I joined the (No Subject) team part time overseeing digital strategy, influencer programs & seeding, community management, project management and worked with the team on event production for agency clients.I enjoyed being a part of this incredible group of talented, experienced individuals who are experts in marketing, branding, design, event production and much more. We believed in the art of getting our hands dirty, shaking things up and seeing ideas through from concept to fruition. In 2016 (No Subject) was acquired by NY-based Small Girls PR.Clients:This is Ground - #tigmod/ Westfield Malls - #westfieldfashbash / Quarterly.co / One Colorado Pasadena / Clashist / One Fine Stay / ClassPass / Frankie & Albert / Urban Decay / Create & Cultivate
Social Media Manager
I oversaw the social media department at Karen Kimmel Studio which offers a variety of creative consulting, marketing, branding and design services for a wide range of private and corporate clients including Splendid, Nike, Target, Martha Stewart, Ella Moss and Cole Haan.In addition to developing the social media strategy for our studio and establishing us as a resource for creativity & design in LA, Karen brought me on board to be the social media expert for clients, and more specifically to spearhead the launch of fashion brand Splendid’s global social media strategy and campaigns including development of platform usage, growth and engagement. I managed all branded content for social media channels, blog and advertising through the fun and colorful #welcometoeveryday lens. I led day to day creative and copy development for social advertising, ad budget, and advised our client on best practices and new technologies, making recommendations on social media software and affiliate marketing platforms. My favorite part of the job was taking lead on influencer collaborations and brand partnerships, utilizing my keen understanding of the blogger space and overall brand vision. Splendid was one of the first brands to partner with Designlovefest, Oh Happy Day, Ban.do, Oh Joy!, Rifle Paper Co. and Clare Vivier. We also did this with Splendid’s sister brand, Ella Moss, but on a smaller scale.
Social Media Manager
Crafting Community was the event side of Karen Kimmel Studio, focused on creating immersive design experiences where families can play, grow and be together. I developed and launched Crafting Community’s digital presence across all social media platforms and oversaw strategy for events, campaigns and their implementation. As partnership was one of the three principles CC was founded on, I led partnership efforts with brands, influencers and tastemakers. As we grew, so did our team. I recruited and managed a team of two - a social media coordinator and blog writer.
Community Manager
I joined Audyssey Labs as Community Manager to further pursue my interests with music. As the company behind great sound, Audyssey Labs was well known in the audiophile world, but was not yet a recognizable name amongst everyday consumers. Our mission was to make home theater quality sound accessible to music lovers by introducing high-quality products at a relatively affordable price point. Our product line - a collection of speakers and docks, were named after up-and-coming, culturally rich neighborhoods in our target markets: SOMA - South of Market Area in San Francisco, LES - Lower East Side in NYC, Silverlake in Los Angeles and Shoreditch in the UK. As a branding initiative, I managed our blog “The Neighborhood” which explored the music scenes in the cities we had named our products after. I managed a team of contributors and also penned interviews and album reviews when needed, all while managing our editorial calendar.I oversaw our social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest) and used them to foster relationships with indie music blogs and influential like-minded organizations including Amoeba Records, Noise Pop, Space15Twenty, Soho House, Noisevox, The 405, Prefix Mag, and the Owl Mag.Additionally, I worked with our Events Manager on a series of pop-up events we held in SF, NY and LA by selecting up-and-coming bands, and partnering with filmmakers (Yours Tru.ly, Dig for Fire, Bamm.tv) in each city to capture video content.I left the company when they decided to restructure and move away from consumer products, shifting focus back to B2B development.
Brand Strategy Manager
In the Spring of 2010, I packed up my suitcase and moved across the country, landing in the Koreatown neighborhood of Los Angeles. I joined the team at Casting Networks originally as Marketing Coordinator and then quickly was promoted to Brand Strategy Manager within a marketing department of four. As the leading casting software platform in the commercial entertainment industry, it was the ideal place to be learning about the nuances of the entertainment industry, and tech development.I was our department liaison, working with project management, developers, customer service, sales, and our CEO for all CNI digital properties. I oversaw branding initiatives including email marketing campaigns to our multiple user groups of talent, agents, managers and casting directors. Additionally I assisted with the development of new web pages to better promote our services including copy, web assets and UX.It was here that I predicted and foresaw the rise of blogger and influencer talent - what was to become a $570 million industry as of 2017, back in 2011.
Brand Strategy Manager
As the sister company to Casting Networks, ModelWire is a casting software platform that's widely used in the modeling industry. I led the the branding and development of ModelWire Network, a professional fashion community concept that stemmed as a solution to platforms like Model Mayhem. I worked with internal teams to design, brand and launch the MWN platform, from start to finish. We acquired users through social media efforts, talent outreach, events and industry partnerships and SEO.I also conceptualized and created MWN’s Industry Wire, a source for fashion & modeling industry news with real tips from industry veterans such as Joey Hunter, former VP of Ford Model Management for 20+ years. Along with MWN’s community manager, I produced the site and managed a team of contributors.
Marketing Assistant
Upon graduating from MSU, I moved to Chicago to pursue a career in advertising at a top agency. Instead, I ended up accepting a position with the oldest watch manufacturer in the United States, Hampden Watch, and their sister company, Fantasy Diamond. Going in, I knew absolutely nothing about the jewelry business but was eager to learn.Within a department of three, then eventually two, I implemented several new marketing initiatives that shifted our company focus from sales to marketing driven. I launched and branded several jewelry lines including Endless Diamond and Endless Color which were carried at both independent boutique retailers, big box stores and warehouse clubs as a private label.Since resources were limited, I oversaw a multitude of ongoing projects including tradeshow planning, proposal development and design for our sales staff, creation of marketing and training materials for retailers, managing the co-op advertising program for independent jewelers, as well as assisting in the creation of displays, product packaging and taking seasonal inventory of multiple sample lines.I was also involved in the product development process by analyzing industry trends, and then distributing my findings to company executives and sales directors. From there, marketing worked with product development to create collections for multiple retail channels.Once a new product came to fruition, I was responsible for all product photography and editing, both internally and externally with vendors. Additionally, I helped develop and managed our company’s multi-channel e-commerce business - everything from graphic design, copywriting, to merchandising and backend updates.
Account Planning Intern
This was my first experience working at a traditional agency. My time was spent assisting several departments, primarily on the account side. In account planning, I did research for client pitches and learned about cultivating new business. The PR department taught me how to research press contacts and the pitching process. In traffic, I was responsible for creating, maintaining and archiving job jackets. In creative, I went on vendor runs and sat in on studio sessions to gain an understanding of production.
