Eileen Humphreys works as a Researcher in the Rural Culture and Community Development Directorate at Limerick City and County Council. It's a busy and exciting role presenting opportunities to be involved in the preparation of plans and projects to advance local and community development. She is working on projects in rural communities in Limerick including funding applications for town and village regeneration projects. Prior to that, she held a number of research positions at the University of Limerick since she completed her PhD in 2005. Formerly, she was a Director of a private consultancy, Local and Regional Development Planning (LRDP), based in London. In this role, she worked mainly on programme development and evaluation of programmes financed under European Structural Funds. Key clients were the European Commission (DG Employment and DG Regional Policies), government departments in the UK and Ireland and local authorities. Her expertise is in local and regional development including urban regeneration and rural development, social capital (the of her doctoral research) and social inclusion. She has expertise in both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies.
