Everyone has a book in them, or so they say. I am very lucky, I discovered I had actually two books in me. The Covid 19 lockdowns in 2020/2021 were like a battery recharge for me, a defrag, a factory reset. I could see and think clearly for the first time in years. I had been writing a book about baths and bathing in Dún Laoghaire in my head for over 20 years and suddenly when all the ed tech and digital marketing files in my brain were archived, I had a blank canvas and could see the structure of a book emerging. I started writing in January 2021 and self-published 'From Dirt and Dips to Dryrobes, bathing in Dún Laoghaire through the ages' in September that year. The book was very well received, selling over 700 copies before the Christmas season. It even made a splash on the Ryan Tubridy Show and Joe Duffy’s Liveline. I enjoyed the entire experience so much I started writing a second book about Dún Laoghaire almost immediately. This time, I wanted to focus on the elegant lifestyle of the past. 'Champagne, Cocktails and Crêpes Suzette, wining, dining and dancing in Dún Laoghaire through the ages', was published in September 2022. The book is on sale in Dalkey News, Dubray Books Dún Laoghaire, and Eamonn's Bookshop Sandycove . It is a limited edition so when they’re gone, they’re gone! I am done with writing books of my own for the moment but I am itching to get writing again. I have experience writing/editing/managing both online and offline content in a variety of formats for a number of sectors including education, technology, tourism, heritage, health and finance and am always interested in new projects.Do you have a book in you? There is no need to wait for another lockdown. I am available to help you structure and shape your book, to tell your story, and to edit and proof your content. I can even ghostwrite from scratch if you do not want to write. I have always wanted to be a ghost and wouldn’t it look good as my new job title?
