Working in collaboration with senior management in both the office of Research, Innovation and Graduate Studies & HR to shape, guide and deliver an effective and consistent HR service for SETU’s research community. Responsible for aligning Institutional and HR strategy with research careers and training and development opportunities to assist both researchers and management in SETU’s diverse research community. Institutional Lead on the European Commission Human Resource Strategy for Researchers (HRS4R), with responsibility for guiding SETU’s HRS4R Action Plan. Under my leadership WIT became the first IOT in Ireland to receive the HR Excellence in Research designation in 2014, successfully leading the award attainment in 2016 & 2021. Acting as a change agent, bringing forward new HR ideas for researchers, providing practical solutions whilst considering the organisational culture and budget constraints. Responsible for development and implementation of HR Research policies, processes and support. I am passionate about research careers, I have introduced a number of policies, practices and support initiatives specifically aimed at researchers including the SETU's Open and Transparent Merit based Recruitment (OTM-R) policy, Hybrid Working policy, the Broaden Your Horizons Researcher Development Programme, the Odyssey Researcher Mentoring Initiative, Research Open Doors series, Supervisor’s Seminar series, Just Come and Write Sessions, SpeedResearch Researcher Networking, the Research Brown Bag series, Researcher Wellbeing supports and most recently SETU's Women in Research Network. I am an active member of SETU's HRS4R Operational Committee, Employee Wellbeing Committee, EDI Committee and Athena Swan SAT Team, the Marie Curie ITN ORBITAL Training and Doctoral Studies Sub-Committee & the EU-CONEXUS-RFS consortium.

Responsible for the development and management of a streamlined customer focused approach to HR services to the growing research community within WIT. Working closely with the HR Department; the Research Support Unit; Institute Management, Research Centres Leaders, other academic institutes and relevant professional services to provide a comprehensive, professional and efficient HR service to the research community within WIT. Playing a key role in enhancing the reputation of the Institute and HR helping position WIT as a leader in the implementation of a high quality support framework for researchers.

As EU Research Programme Officer I provide comprehensive support to WIT researchers in the preparation of European and International funding proposals. Key duties and responsibilities include: Identify calls complementary to WIT's thematic research priorities. Organise and deliver research events both internally and externally, including targeted funding information sessions, grant writing workshops and policy information events. Identify and engage leading organisations/consortia across Europe to establish partnerships with WIT within targeted calls. Encourage participation of new researchers in H2020 proposals. Assist researchers and partner organisations on completion of Grant Preparation Forms, assistance during contract negotiations and post award project implementation advice. Act as key Institutional contact with the NCP's, National delegate and relevant EU officers. Lead Coordinator of WIT's Human Resource Strategy for Researchers (HRS4Rs) Action Plan (2014-2018). External Peer Reviewer for the European Commission on external evaluations of the HRS4Rs in European research performing organisations.

Project Manager of the FP7 Marie Curie Industry Academia Partnership and Pathways research project Over the Counter Codeine Use Misuse and Dependence (CODEMISUSED). Responsible for the management of a unique collaboration consisting of 28 consortium members across Ireland, the UK and South Africa including WIT, Kings College London, The Medical Research Council, Cara Pharmacy, Leading Pharmacy and Weldricks Pharmacy with a funded research value of €2m. Key Duties and Responsibilities include: Planning and Monitoring the overall research and secondment activities of the CODEMISUSED project in Ireland, the UK and South Africa, Tracking of deliverables and goals in recruitments and secondments, Management of project budget and submission of financial reports in conjunction with Project Accountant, Modification of Annex 1 Gantt Chart and Budget when necessary including preparation of documentation for the EU, Assisting the Principal Investigator, acting as liaison between project partners and EU Project Officer, Co-ordinating partner and work package meetings, networking events, workshops and seminars, Project Administration and logistics including EU reports, meeting agendas, minutes, newsletters, Design and development of project website, Liaison with Technology Transfer office in preparation of Consortium Agreement and guiding IP discussion, Ensuring consortium members are aware of IAPP rules, regulations and eligibility criteria, Monitoring and encouraging the outreach and dissemination activities of each fellow, Assisting fellows with individual Training and Career Development strategies, Initiating and developing new collaborations with key industrial and academic partners both nationally and internationally, Contribute to the preparation of future funding proposals, Disseminating outputs at national and international conferences, meetings and public events 
