Duties included; Receiving and converting incoming enquiries to achieve targets and maximize revenue, Managing an events schedule to maximise yield whilst focusing on a consistently executed up-selling approach. I rely on building strong relationships with customers to fully understand their needs and carry out site visits to maximise business potential for both Hilton Belfast and Hilton Templepatrick.
Assisting in the delivery of a programme of events to promote the Clipper Round the World Yacht race and Foyle Maritime Festival. Co-ordinating a range of operational aspects of the Clipper events programme and Foyle Maritime Festival in conjunction with Council’s Business & Culture teams. Securing and maximising external funding, grants and sponsorship. Developing relationships with community based organisations, and promoting community needs in the delivery of the Clipper programme. I monitor and evaluate the impact and spend of all events undertaken by Council in order to demonstrate effectiveness, efficiency and value for money to Council and funders. I Participate in and ensure compliance with all Council policies and procedures and operate within the highest standards of personal behaviour which reflect the core values of the organisation.
Derry
I held responsibility for many different aspects within events department such as the construction and distribution of tender documents and expression of interest forms for suppliers. I had also been responsible for procurement procedures with relation to suppliers for events. Within Derry City Council I also assisted in managing the applicants for the Walled City Markets during the Clipper Festival 2014. My role was to contact and liaise with the applicants on the status of their applications regarding trading at the festival. I was also been responsible for contacting local suppliers of entertainment for events held in the city. Another responsibility of mine was to manage and log documents, application forms and proposal forms onto a database for use by management. I was also involved in distribution of letters to businesses and residents within the city centre for upcoming events. I was also attributed the responsibility for collating and updating the calendar of events for management in Derry City Council. I developed and built strong relationships with the staff here particularly within the event and marketing department.
Derry
During this six month period I was responsible for the management of the volunteer database and budget used for all events for the second half of the calendar year. This entailed updating schedules for volunteers for each of the events and to contact and liaise with the volunteers during this period on volunteer shifts and management of the budget. During this role I also had the responsibility to carry out post event evaluations with the volunteers to improve processes During my placement here I was involved in two radio interviews with regards volunteer management at Lumiere festival held in the city in 2013. I established and maintained relationships with the volunteers during this period. I adopted many administrative jobs during my placement with Culture Company LTD 2013 with the use of Microsoft packages such as Excel, Word and Powerpoint and Prezi. I worked at many events over the space of this placement adopting roles including volunteer management, artist liaison, VIP management and general event assistant and event operations and event planning.
