The Access Planning team in SONI responsible for determining access arrangements for connections to the transmission system, including transmission connection arrangements for distribution connected generation, as well as Firm Access Quantities (FAQ) and Associated Transmission Reinforcements (ATRs). I was involved in the introduction of contestability in connections in and thr implementation of a new connection offer process in NI.I work closely with NIE Networks in their roles as Distribution Network Operator (DNO) and Transmission Owner (TO) and am a member of the Transmission Interface Arrangements (TIA) Connections panel. I represent SONI in various industry forums including Renewables Grid Liaison Group (RGLG), the Contestability Working Group.

This involves using Siemens PSSE power flow simulation tool. I am also involved in the introduction of contestability in connections in Northern Ireland.I work closely with NIE Networks in their roles as Distribution Network Operator (DNO) and Transmission Owner (TO) and am a member of the Transmission Interface Arrangements (TIA) Connections panel. I represent SONI in various industry forums including Renewables Grid Liaison Group (RGLG), the Contestability Working Group and NIE’s Project 40 work streams for large scale connections.

I was a member of the NI System Planning team in SONI responsible for transmission system modelling using market simulation tool Ventyx PROMOD IV to represent generator operating characteristics, transmission network and system constraints to support economic transmission planning. This included producing potential constraint and curtailment levels for the NI transmission system and economic analysis to support the justification of infrastructure investment.I represented SONI in the ENTSO-E North Sea Regional Market Modelling team and applied ENTSO-E cost benefit analysis methodologies with National Grid to determine the cost benefit of increase interconnection between NI and GB.
