The Student Parliament is the students' supreme democratic body, which works on behalf of all Oslo University College students. The parliament's primary goal is to promote students' academic and social interests. It does this by working together with the local student branches at the faculties and the various faculty committees, with the college's leadership, boards and councils, administration and staff, as well as with OAS, the student welfare organization. The Norwegian Association of Technical Students (NETS - Norsk Elevsamskipnad for Teknisk Studerende) NETS Was an independent, non-governmental, democratic student organisation which represents and defends the rights and interests of students at the university colleges in Norway. In total we represented more than 10 000 students. NETS was closed as a result of a fusion between 3 student unions in 1996.Through representation and the wielding of influence, StL promotes the students’ common interests. StL is rooted in a sense of community, and solidarity, respect, trust and understanding are its hallmarks. StL’s members constitute the local student democracies. StL’s policies are conceived and adopted by the local student democracies through their representation in StL’s democratically elected body.
