Kia ora,I have been working as a Psychotherapist and AOD Clinician for 12 years, and I’m proud to be PBANZ board registered, a member of NZAP, and registered with DAPAANZ. I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counselling from the University of Maine. My career began in an acute psychiatric facility, where I spent 5 years providing diagnostics and individual & group therapy. For the past 4 years, I have run my own private practice, and for the last 3 years, I have had the privilege of caring for Tāngata Whai Ora in Aotearoa.I have a strong background in leadership, having worked as an organiser, facilitator, supervisor, and manager. I have extensive experience in developing, restructuring, and implementing community and organisational policies and programs focused on mental health and business objectives. I am passionate about education and have spent over 12 years developing and leading continuing education programs for mental health practitioners, clinical interns, students, and community members. In addition, I have 5 years of experience supervising clinical interns in acute psychiatric settings and have also supervised peers within the community for 4 years. My experience extends to managing university student workers and currently, I manage counsellors in an EAP programme.My work in mental health, AOD counselling, and diversity training has been incredibly fulfilling. I’ve gained valuable experience with therapeutic approaches such as motivational interviewing, ACT, harm reduction, CBT, DBT, brief interventions, and more. I’ve also worked extensively with multidisciplinary teams, conducting assessments, treatment planning, and clinical case reviews. My crisis services work has honed my ability to assess and deescalate acute situations involving suicidality, psychosis, and intoxication.I deeply value the diversity of the communities I’ve served, including the indigenous nations of North America and Aotearoa, and Rainbow Peoples (T/LGBTQIA+).
