Dr. Eisa Cox is an award-winning educator with a track record of success in diverse K-12 educational settings as a teacher, school administrator, and district leader. She currently serves as Superintendent of Ashe County Schools, a rural district in Northwest North Carolina with 2800 students, 500 teachers and staff, and 62% free and reduced lunch. In the past four years, her schools have earned national and state awards for excellence in student performance. The district has seen a decrease in dropouts, a significant increase in graduation rates, and a 154% increase in student credentials earned. She has also partnered with non-profit ApSeed to provide 800 touchpads, books, and early learning materials to families. A proven instructional leader and advocate for children, Dr. Cox has strategically implemented policies, procedures, and programs focusing on early literacy and postsecondary success. Dr. Cox is a former Executive Director of Programs for Rowan-Salisbury Schools where she led the design, communication, and implementation of district program initiatives and evaluated, monitored, and supported directors, principals, and initiatives of several district-wide departments. In May of 2020, Dr. Cox wrote the U.S. Department of Education Teacher and School Leader (TSL) Grant "Accelerate Rowan" which was AWARDED to Rowan Salisbury Schools in the amount of $26.4 Million Dollars. She also formerly served as Executive Director of Secondary Education. Dr. Cox earned an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Wingate University in 2016. She was awarded with Wingate University's 2016 Outstanding Capstone award for her dissertation "Profile of a Digital Superintendent", a mixed-methods national study of more than 2300 superintendents across the United States. Eisa also earned a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from The University of North Carolina of Greensboro and a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education with honors from West Virginia University. Dr. Cox is involved in various civic and professional organizations, including the NCSSA Superintendent Executive Leadership program where she was named the 2024 Dr. Brad Sneeden award recipient. She was elected as the Chairman of the Appalachian State University Public School Partnership 2023-25 and as Chairman of the Northwest Regional Educational Service Alliance 2024-25. She was also named a Paul Harris Fellow for Rotary International. Eisa and her husband Kevin, have been married 26 years. They have two sons, Spencer and Wyatt.
