From 1978 – 1990 Eize lived and worked for prolonged periods in Africa and Asia, both as a design engineer and technical consultant. His professional activities in the past among others included developing animal powered road building and transportation equipment. In addition the development of animal drawn, and human, solar and wind powered water-lifting devices for a wide range of rural applications. In Bangladesh he provided technical and capacity building support by the setting up of vocational training centres. From 1990 until to date Eize functions in various capacities as a technical consultant, science journalist and university lecturer. Main professional fields include energy efficiency, wind power and integrated power systems, sustainable technology design and development, biomass and bio-fuels, LCA of products and processes, and overall environmental science issues.
