  • Clickseq Technologies
    Ceo And Co-Founder
Clickseq Technologies Jan 2018 - Present
    Davis, California, Us
We provide Next-Generation Sequencing library synthesis, sequencing and bioinformatic support using the ‘ClickSeq‘ method of NGS library synthesis. ClickSeq is a unique method for RNAseq and DNAseq that uses ‘Click-Chemistry’ in place of commonly used biological reagents such as fragmentases and ligases. ClickSeq is a very simple procedure and considerably cheaper than other commonly used alternatives.

  • The University Of Texas Medical Branch
    Graduate Research Assistant
The University Of Texas Medical Branch Aug 2013 - May 2019
    Galveston, Texas, Us
I have established a foundation using NGS strategies (Illumina and MinION) to study RNA recombination in model RNA viruses and clinically relevant RNA viruses such as rhinoviruses and Coxsackie virus. My broad goal is to establish whether observed patterns of RNA recombination can inform us on the exact molecular mechanisms of RNA recombination, and how this drives virus evolution in lab settings. I am beginning to look at the role of both viral and host factors in determining the frequency and/or loci of RNA recombination. The ultimate purpose of my research is to use this knowledge to characterize the drivers of RNA virus evolution both broadly in nature, and more locally for example within a single patient over the course of an acute or chronic infection.
  • University Of Florida
    Undergraduate Research Assistant
University Of Florida May 2010 - Jul 2013
    Gainesville, Florida, Us
During my time as an undergraduate at the University of Florida I worked as a research assistant for two different laboratories. From May 2010 to January 2012 I worked for Dr. Phillip Koehler in the Urban Entomology Lab. Here, I studied the management of dry wood and subterranean termites. My particular role during this time was to design and conduct the experiments where I specifically tested the efficacy of different pesticides on termite survival. From February 2012 to July 2013 I worked for Dr. David Clark and Dr. Thomas Colquhoun in the Environmental Horticulture Department . Our lab focused on plant biotechnology, specifically elucidating the plant volatile compound biosynthesis pathways. Using Petunia×hybrida cv. ‘Mitchell Diploid’ plants (petunias) as a model system we sought to elucidate the enzymes required for floral volatile benzenoid/phenylpropanoid (FVBP) biosynthesis and how these pathways can be manipulated to enhance flavors in flowers and fruits.
