E. J. Irish is a filmmaker, screenwriter, character actor, singer and songwriter. He is a former Disney employee who worked on the design and construction of the $1.3 billion Epcot Center in Orlando, Florida.Beginning at Disney in 1981 Irish pioneered "The Animated Bible" think tank, a group which developed the first computerized animation in Disney history. Later in the 1980s this group morphed into the core of a group that went with Jeffrey Katzenberg from Disney when he joined Steven Spielberg to form DreamWorks, and produced the motion picture, Prince of Egypt (1998) with a box office gross of $101 million.In 1982 this group while still at Disney proposed to Disney management an animated series of all seven of The Chronicles of Narnia by C. S. Lewis. Decades later, Disney would team up with Walden Media to produce a live-action version of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (2005) with gross box office $745 million, and Prince Caspian (2008) with gross box office of $141 million, both directed by Andrew Adamson. The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader is being produced by 20th Century Fox, directed by Michael Apted.At the same time Irish teamed up with fellow songwriter Jeff Wood to create the children's musical, Secrets of the Kingdom, to attempt to create an original story in the Lewisian tradition. Three decades later this story has become a multi-generational favorite and continues to draw audiences.He works as an ad copywriter, producer of short films, screenwriter, and occasional character actor, and on digital recordings, singing his own original songs as well as songs..Irish presently lives in his original hometown of Overland Park, Kansas.
