Responsible for firm-wide architecture and technology decisions, technical direction, and coding in C++ on Linux.Focused on low latency trading and co-located in multiple data centers, I worked on windows and Linux platforms, programming primarily in C++. Responsible for the entire SDLC, trading applications, monitoring, risk management, trade support, product enhancements, QA, and deployment.Re-engineered the primary trading application to reduce latency 75%, leading to a significant increase in profitability. Evaluated multiple technology partner vendors, choosing several to aid the firm’s execution speed, quality, and risk controls. Successfully implemented that vendor's technology, leading to direct increases in profitability.

Responsible for managing the development of the firm’s technical infrastructure supporting the RealTick EMS, a SaaS platform for order execution, routing and market data with 4000+ global customers. I set technical direction, aligned the development organization with company business goals, produced new products, and maintained existing SaaS technology.Director and leader of the 45-person software engineering organization. Lead teams of: developers, team leads and DBAs that: designed, built and supported all internally developed applications across multiple asset classes and product offerings. Systems and projects managed under my purview included: trading systems, databases, market data, middleware, and web applications.As chief stakeholder and technical project manager for all internal software projects, I allocated resources and balanced shifting priorities. Manager of a 15 person market data engineering team.Project manager for market data software projects, utilizing Jira and TWiki for issue tracking, workflow, and documentation. I was responsible for system design and implementation; monitoring tools, exchange mandated changes, and capacity planning. As part of my tenure, I created a disciplined approach to capacity planning and monitoring that led us to a lifestyle of constant improvement, reducing our server footprint while increasing capacity. I began the migration to from 32bit software to 64bits - an effort that I continued on a larger scale later on as Director. I also created and led an advanced monitoring initiative, including development of tools, log file improvements, and real-time alerting.

Designed and coded the next gen market data system with the team in C++. We planned, implemented, and deployed an entire new system. Key features included: lower latency, significantly increased stability, vastly more scalable, much higher capacity. Built long-lasting relationships with internal partner teams to socialize and design new systems.

Starting as a junior C++ programmer, I advanced to Tech Lead of the five person Ticker Plant development team. We built and deployed a new technology market data ticker plant in C++, a whole new design built for monitor-ability, simplicity of operation, and stability. We also built the Oster Dow Jones (ODJ) news system from the ground up in a few months – beating management estimates and deadlines. Part of that project was designing and implementing editorial software for news staff to submit, produce, edit, and send stories across the wire, which we built mostly in Perl.

Genesis produced business management software targeted at decorating products stores, offering a complete turnkey solution from the back office to the front counter.I maintained and built new functionality for all aspects of the product. After two years on the job, I took over as the sole developer of the WorkPro product, stabilizing it and allowing for a smooth transition of ownership.
