    From a central group of servers that run a consensus protocol, send out metadata to the rest of the network (hundreds of thousands of machines on the ‘edge’ of the Akamai CDN). Owned the primary server group. worked on the edge-updating software and shared libraries. Ran a system-wide refactor to update the encryption protocol, and enable safe and automatic key rotation for the first time since 1990s; re-encrypted mountains of metadata without service interruptions. Rolled out my own custom design for differential directory uploads, cutting upload time from over an hour, to less than a minute.Owned the large-scale system to quickly, but unreliably transmit data around the world (think: “UDP of metadata transmission”). First to collect feedback from internal users in over 5 years. Triaged issues and feature requests; set up multithreading, fixed bugs, etc.
