Eva Katharina Engelhardt Email and Phone Number
I am an (almost post-doctoral) researcher at the Department of Global Change Ecology with Prof. Dr. Christian Hof at the Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg, Germany. I analyze the effects of climate and land-use change on insects with focus on the central European region of Bavaria, Germany.Biodiversity and climate change are the two topics that are most important to me, and I like sharing my knowledge and fascination with people. During my bachelor in biosciences and my master in ecology and evolution, I gave guided tours of the local zoo, and taught several courses on biodiversity and climate change at summer schools. I also started birding and soon wanted to learn how to analyse and gain insights from such observations. During my master thesis, I learned how to combine these topics. For my master thesis, I began learning statistical models and analysed the direct and indirect climate change effects on a European bird species, the spotted nutcracker. In my Ph.D. I modelled reliable species trends from highly heterogeneous observation data of butterflies, grasshoppers, and dragonflies and damselflies, and started to identify environmental drivers of these trends.
