I attended Maplewood Career Center where I first got hands-on training in the printing industry. I focused mainly on running 1 and 2 color presses, but still learned other concepts such as: screen printing, layout design using Adobe Photoshop and InDesign, film and digital plate making, and folding.After graduation I went to work at The Rohrich Corporation. I was hired as a cutter operator and cut down our 4 and 8 pagers to then be folded, and other various finished products like bill inserts, posters, and note pads. Along with cutting, I would help out on the folder and stitcher when needed. I later made my way to the pressroom and started operating the feeder on a 6 color press. I'd maintain the ink, paper, and check the water ratios in the tank. Once Rohrich went under, I applied at Sheridan to be a feeder on a perfect binder. I worked my way around the binder learning all that I could from feeding, palletizing, assistant operator, and lead operator. While at Sheridan I learned other bindery skills including: drilling, tipping, dot whacking, mail, and shrink-wrapping.
