Overall responsibility for HealthRules Payor claims administration product developed by 10 scrum teams with approximately 70 team members. Product suite automates operations of health insurance payors including enrollment, billing, benefits configuration, provider contracting, claims adjudication and payment.Payor engineering teams developed new capabilities in record time frames that won HealthEdge business at companies like Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Tufts, and Medica. Time to market for new capabilities, that previously took customers over 3 years to implement, was reduced to under 12 months.Established company wide Jenkins CI platform. This multi-cloud, “master/agent” server farm is entirely configured by Ansible automation scripts from git source code control. It runs over 1,500 jobs and serves CI needs of 200+ engineers across dozens of teams. Architected automated provisioning platform to migrate engineering system test and development environments to “cattle not pet” approach. This capability replaced the manual process of setting up and configuring systems which took several days with fully automated provisioning and deployment that can be completed in a few hours.Introduced AWS as an elastic capability to provision on-demand test environments and CI servers to fulfill needs during high peak utilization windows such as an end of release weeks. Teams went from having to file OPS tickets to get VMs to entirely self-service provisioning mode.Championed Scrum process for Payor Engineering teams. Planned and executed team training with the agile coaching staff, defined processes and supported teams during the transition. Today we have representatives from the majority of our customers attending our biweekly sprint reviews and release our software monthly.

The HealthRules product suite was named “Best New Technology” by attendees of the 2007 Healthcare IT Summit, one of the leading industry conferences for healthcare IT and business executivesEngineering efficiencies gained from metadata-driven code generation frameworks allowed the engineering teams to deliver differentiated capabilities in very short timeframe and at a fraction of the cost of traditional development approachesProcesses that are typically challenging and that depend on single individuals (for example database schema changes requiring DBA time) were fully automated and changes were integrated into main trunk code base several times a day by all engineers.

From the ground up delivered the first version of the HealthRules product to market on time, under 18 months and on budget. The company was awarded Patent No. US 7,356,460 B1 for its unique, language-based solution for capturing and executing the business logic of healthcare claim transactions

As part of the consulting team, delivered data acquisition and transformation capabilities to support the new ERP platform.Established metadata repository, setup data acquisition capabilities using Ab Initio platform, integrated with SAP.Provided training and knowledge transfer to customer teams.

Transformed proprietary domain model language from simple specification to the executable framework.Enabled team of business analysts develop domain models that could be used by the engineering team directly. Eliminated errors and ambiguity that usually exists in the requirements gathering process.Developed tools to support generation of Java beans, C# classes, O/R mapping layer, RDBMS DDL and XML serialization resulting in significant gains in productivity, consistency, and maintainability. 1.5 million lines of code were generated. This new approach reduced time to make model changes from several “error-prone” days to 30 minutes.Developed a two-dimensional temporal database design supporting both business and transaction time dimension. This approach allowed accurate transactional processing, retroactive and prospective calculations, and supported a full audit of changes over time.Use of metadata allowed to implement patterns such as temporal data tracking with minimum overhead.Ported the product from WebLogic/Oracle to WebSphere/DB2 while ensuring application and database independence as part of an IBM partnership agreement. Using code generation created DB2 schema with over 1000 table in just a couple days.

Delivered CRM solution for a major bank to supply data from legacy mainframe systems to the IBM SP2 Informix database and enable data analytics on time and budget. (IBM, AIX, Informix, Ab Initio)Through the application of metadata-driven design and development approach transformed data from dozens of legacy mainframe sources to the target data warehouse schema with just 3 developers.Selected and implemented CRM solution that included data model design, ETL development and data visualization for a major mutual funds company. (HP servers, Informatica, Oracle)
