I am the part-time sales assistant for the Automotive and Retail Advertising Sales Teams for the Detroit News and The Detroit Free Press. Some of my responsibilities include scheduling and billing both print and digital advertising campaigns using Genesys, Tactician, POET and Order Hub. I am also being trained in the program BURT, which tracks pre-prints for insertion in the daily newspaper. . I love the fast-paced, deadline environment of the newspaper. I like being kept busy and I am quick to pick things up. My brain works proactively, so I am always trying to plan ahead and anticipate issues that may lie ahead. Formerly, I was the full-time sales assistant, but opted for part-time after the birth of my son. With the many demands at home, part-time is the perfect schedule at this time.

I was receptionist, sales assistant, and temporary administrative assistant to the publisher. This was my first job after graduating from high school and it was a wonderful learning experience. As receptionist I ran a multi-line phone system, took payment for classified and display ads, answered customer's questions and helped them find solutions to problems. When assisting the sales people, I helped proof ads, picked up ad copy, called customers for changes and filled in for the sales people when they were on vacation. My last summer at the paper, I was temporary administrative assistant to the publisher. In this capacity I did payroll, ordered office supplies, helped with official correspondance, as well as keeping the office running smoothly. Working at a small newspaper was quite the adventure. I loved working the front desk and having to deal with so many different kinds of people!
