Born in 1963, since 1983 lived and worked for 21 years in Berlin, 10 years in Frankfurt, 4 years in Jakarta, since 2006 commuting between Germany and Indonesia in search of new challenges. I studied Visual Communication at the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK). In 1991 I was founder, creative and managing director of “Pixelpark AG” in Berlin, which is a rather well known media agency in Germany until today. In 1993 I founded my own multimedia studio “eku interactive” and realized various interactive new media projects.Independent author, director, producer and publisher of edutainment CD-ROM titles and computer games (i.e. “Berlin Connection” and “Berlin in the Underground – Potsdamer Platz”). My works are present at numerous media festivals and exhibitions around the world (i.e. Centre Pompidou animation collection) and have won various prizes and distinctions (i.e. Imagina, Siggraph, Prix Ars Electronica, Europrix).Since 1998 professor for Media Design / Multimedia at the Braunschweig University of Art (HBK) and from 2007 to 2014 managing director of its Institute of Media Research (IMF). Teaching and research fields cover Design Thinking, Interactive Storytelling, Narrative Environments as well as Game Design i.e. Serious Games, Virtual Reality and Social Media Management i.e. Marketing. Jury member of several German design awards and networker, giving speeches and workshops at other academic institutions in the games and education industry in Europe and Southeast Asia.
