I am currently employed as a senior manager in R&D at PwC Ireland. The R&D group specialises in helping eligible clients to claim R&D tax credits, ensuring that the necessary systems and processes are in place to make robust claims, and that quality documentation is prepared to support claims. The documentation process involves collaboration with client teams to capture technical project details, and working from this to author R&D technical reports. As a senior manager, I play a key role in managing client engagements - agreeing project scope, timelines and budget, liaising with key stakeholders, assigning and managing team members, and ensuring that high quality project outputs are delivered on schedule.

Worked on a freelance basis between September 2015 and October 2016, completing several editorial and technical writing assignments, particularly in the areas of legal and professional, and further contributed instructional design expertise to a number of projects.

Project managed and worked as lead instructional designer on a project to introduce an adaptive learning product to the market for the 2015/2016 academic year. Quantitatively and qualitatively reviewed existing content to determine new content required, developed workflows, created project schedule, recruited, trained and commissioned SMEs, managed budgets, ID-reviewed author submissions, managed content input, coordinated onscreen reviews, etc.

Managed the learning design of a new Folens series, working on student books and on accompanying online resources, teacher resource books, etc. Implemented content edits and requested illustration edits, ensuring sound pedagogy, syllabus alignment, and aiming to develop truly engaging content and activities. Liaised with authors, illustrators, developers, commissioning editor, project manager, etc. Arranged SME reviews, prepared files for handover to Editorial, and coordinated and managed proofing through to CRC.

Worked as an instructional designer in a Folens start-up company called Apierian, which specialised in online Leaving Certificate courses, articles and apps. Primarily worked both from raw content and with SMEs to design and build engaging interactive revision courses comprising core content, quizzes, activities, video, audio, infographics, etc. Secondly coordinated content production for Apierian's subscription-based blog-style website which contained thousands of topic-based articles across thirteen subjects. This involved creating and maintaining user accounts on CMS, supervising SME submissions, editing and formatting content, sourcing and editing images, and scheduling publication for posts. Further designed some Leaving Cert. revision apps by developing content, scripting audio and creating JSON files for developer.

Published four hard-copy tax titles and nine eBooks annually through copy-editing, technical writing, paginating, indexing, proofreading, etc. Trained and supervised assistant editors, and managed designers, printers and budgets. Managed the editing of the company’s subscription-based online content, updating with new legislation using house style. Redesigned in-house CMS UI with lead developer resulting in marked increases in efficiency.

Presented and demonstrated the online applications product to prospective clients (university departments) and encouraged switching to this new method of application. Developed tailored online applications for courses by composing and inputting questions as required, tested and closely liaised with technicians regarding UI edits and bugs. Trained staff on the new system and acted as point of contact for online applications queries whether from applicants, administrators, technicians, etc.

Researched, wrote and edited new information leaflets for prospective students, and proof-read admissions data for submission to media, educational bodies, etc. Created records for prospective students using the university records application.

Was selected to be the First Year Linguistics Tutor, tutoring six classes (90 students) weekly for the 2004 - 2005 academic year. Prepared classes on selected topics, creating hand-outs, activities and assignments to complement lessons. Corrected assignments and met with any students needing extra help.
