Interested in working on dynamic projects and complex models, I am fascinated by challenging problems. From childhood, I have written software for fun and convenience. The first computer game that I created was a text adventure on the Commodore 128. Later, I learned of multi-user text adventures, and immediately learned how to script things so that I could quickly change gear on my character and make a robot librarian that actually gave directions and dispensed information on a limited number of topics.I am driven to truly understand the machinery and inner workings of mathematics. I am passionate about statistics and scientific validation. I am fascinated by modeling and chose to pursue finite element analysis and other numerical techniques in graduate school. This had the added benefit of providing the opportunity to learn about aerosol coagulation, which I explored using Monte Carlo methods, writing my own code and scripts to process data, as well as statistical evaluation of that data. From there, it wasn't a big leap to pursue physics. I had the fantastic opportunity to work for the Naval Research Laboratory on the Naval Coastal Ocean Model, composing a statistical evaluation package to help validate the oceanographic model. I worked with the Energy Conversion and Conservation Center using computational fluid dynamics to model transition to turbulence. Based on image restoration and enhancement techniques, I wrote scripts to perform edge detection and eddy recognition in video of flow. I applied knowledge of signal processing, wavelets, and acoustics to attempt to recognize whales and other marine mammals in the Gulf of Mexico by their calls.Meanwhile, I also worked as an AutoCAD draftsman, which required organization and attention to detail. Recognizing that the computer could do boring and repetitive tasks more accurately than I could as a human, I wrote scripts in LISP and VB so that I could spend my time building better drawings. Now I am seeking a career change into software development so as to make my hobby my career. I've learned Java; I've gotten certified with AWS. I'm doing freelance work to put together a couple of small startups' websites with Angular. And I'm continuing to learn new languages and new tools, including Python, Kubernetes, and Docker.

Director Of Data ScienceMulticore Photonics Nov 2017 - Apr 2018Orlando, Fl, UsDeveloped mathematical analysis tools in MATLAB for catalytic reaction data. Oversaw experiments to gather catalytic reaction data as well as temperature data from several sensor prototypes using both resistance thermometers and multicore optical fibers. Aided in the design of new prototypes using computational fluid dynamics solvers.Designed and developed a stand-alone software application using the MATLAB Compiler to integrate information from an in-house built interrogator for multicore optical fiber into readable and redistributable data with reliable time stamp information through the serial com port interface. -
Autocad Operator / Technical WriterPhacil, Inc 2016 - Nov 2017Took initiative to design and create a suite of software applications for AutoCAD using AutoLISP and VBA to make assembly of drawing packages more efficient, more consistent, and more accurate. Additionally refined the project drawing package in AutoCAD for ease of use, maintaining an identical look and feel in the final project while making the creation of that project more design-oriented.Designed new templates in both AutoCAD and Microsoft Word and Excel for efficient communication from Information and Communications Technology experts while creating software to allow data to pass easily between AutoCAD and Microsoft products.Developed documentation of standard procedures and requirements for all AutoCAD drawings and related files.Worked with the Cocoa Beach, FL branch of Phacil, Inc. to design and create a suite of software applications tailored to their AutoCAD needs, thus dramatically increasing accuracy and efficiency while reducing the burden on their engineers. Was presented the Ferocious Execution Award in December, 2016, for bringing new and innovative processes to increase both quantity and quality of work packages at both Florida branches of Phacil.

InstructorSoutheastern Louisiana University 2012 - 2014Hammond, La, UsTaught introductory physics for non-majors, including associated labs, covering kinematics, momentum, electricity and magnetism, sound, and optics.Strongly encouraged the use of technology in the classroom, including using students' personal devices to allow them to be queried and quizzed, thus allowing the tailoring of lectures towards student needs.Developed demonstrations and laboratory activities to further student understanding in a hands-on manner.Served as faculty advisor for the Southeastern Louisiana University chapter of Women in Technology, aiding student leaders in outreach programs, internal education and field trips, and science-based fund raising techniques. -
Graduate Research Assistant, Department Of PhysicsUniversity Of New Orleans Jun 2006 - Aug 2012Investigated the effects of flow instability with the Energy Conversion and Conservation Center; worked with commercial and in-house software to simulate and model transition to turbulence in fluids. Used MATLAB to analyze and evaluate a variety of computational fluid dynamics solvers via image restoration and enhancement, spectral analysis, and wavelet methods.Created a statistical evaluation package in MATLAB to compare the forecasting performance of various configurations of the Navy Coastal Ocean Model (NCOM) to real-world data gathered by the Italian Navy off the coast of La Spetzia, Italy; results were published in a peer-reviewed journal.Initiated a rewrite of the University of New Orleans introductory physics laboratory manuals, including the update of previous experiments and the design of new experiments as well as comprehensive appendices covering laboratory safety, techniques, and equipment; these manuals were well-received and effective, and due to their progressive and modular nature, are currently in use by several local high schools and universities.Ran the University's observatory, teaching astronomy labs, maintaining a 300-mm aperture telescope, and volunteering to oversee observation nights which were open to the public.Taught a variety of courses, including as a lecturer for second semester algebra-based physics. Created recitation materials tailored to corresponding courses as well as overseeing coordinating laboratory classes.
