I am a journalist and communications specialist with a track record of more than 35 years in the automotive sector and a substantial portfolio of independent journalism for consumer and industry titles as well as corporate writing and communication content for a number of major European automakers, tier-1 suppliers, publishers and media companies. With an industry background in industrial design and powertrain engineering, I developed my communication skills through conveying complex technological messages to a wide variety of audiences - expert and non-expert, consumer and corporate, fully engaged enthusiast and vaguely interested onlooker.As a freelance journalist, I spent many years as a features and technology writer for industry publications and as a columnist for enthusiast magazines, corresponding from bases in Germany and the US. I have a keen interest in the mobility transformation and actively seek out stories relating to sustainable transportation - this can range from factual pieces about enabling technologies to human-touch items on the way mobility shapes our lives. As a corporate writer and communicator, I build strong, long-term relationships with clients based on a highly collaborative and responsive approach to their business needs. I specialise in distilling a story or communication message from a wide variety of input ranging from vague to extremely detailed, and am particularly adept at applying a journalistic approach to corporate messaging. I work indirectly for major carmakers (through their communications agencies) and directly for tier-1 and smaller businesses.And in the spirit of lifelong learning, I graduated in 2021 with an MA (with distinction) in International Journalism for Media Professionals from Edinburgh Napier University.I am currently working on a freelance basis with long-standing client Oliver Schrott Kommunikation GmbH as a Senior Editor.
