I write, edit and advise on the external communications of civil society groups and NGOs, mostly in the fields of anti-human trafficking, risky migration, and forced labour. I’m currently Communications Manager at Freedom Collaborative, Inc.I believe that consistent messaging and a coherent narrative are crucial for effective activism, and that meaningful work can begin when purpose, vision and strategy are clearly defined and communicated.I mostly work with clients who support and amplify the service of grassroots organisations – this includes survivor-led projects and initiatives which centre the voices, guidance and leadership of former victims of exploitation and those living in vulnerable communities. I believe that putting these groups at the forefront of decision-making and strategy development – through listening, capacity-building, advocacy, connection and collaboration – is one of the most effective ways in which to create lasting change. I write and edit copy for a variety of formats, including reports, case studies, campaign material, interviews, website content and newsletters. Whatever the subject, my job is to ensure that the relevant information is conveyed quickly and effectively – with a coherent structure, a logical flow of ideas, clear writing, and the right tone of voice. I trained as a journalist and have a background in magazine editorial, working on titles including Vogue, Marie Claire, Eve and Easy Living. I have also worked as a freelance editor and copywriter – clients past and present include UNESCO, Liberty Shared, RecollectiV, Good + Fair Employers Club, English Heritage, British Airways, John Lewis, Cath Kidston, Visit Wiltshire, Audley Travel, Handpicked Hotels, Rare Bird Hotels and Optidek.
