Hello! My name is Elaine, and I graduated from a small, liberal arts college in Lexington, KY, in May 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts in Writing, Rhetoric & Communication. My top five strengths from the CoreClarity Strengths Finder test are as follows: includer, positivity, significance, restorative, and belief. This means that I am most fulfilled in my work when I am confident it will positively impact someone else. I want my efforts to matter in the lives of others. I also have a vibrant, upbeat personality and work well in a cohesive, team-oriented setting. An extrovert by nature, I enjoy work that involves frequent communication and interaction with many people. My ability to quickly form authentic connections and build trust with people is my most valuable skill. With extensive experience in both domestic and international travel, I would love the opportunity to one day travel for work. From May 2016 - May 2018, I traveled for my sorority as a consultant to roughly 40 universities to ensure quality, safety, and consistency. I reported back to the national organization's Board of Trustees on the progress and status of each sorority chapter. Through this experience, I sharpened my communication and public-speaking skills, learned valuable internal and external marketing principles, enhanced my organization, practiced customer service, and so much more. I currently work for Woodford County Public Schools (WCPS) as the Public Information & Communications Officer. In this role, I oversee all WCPS communicative efforts and social media platforms in order to disseminate information to the stakeholders of the school district, i.e., students, staff, parents/guardians, and community members. I create content, such as articles, interviews, pictures, and videos, for the WCPS blog and social media to promote an emotional investment to the school district and to provide a continuous narrative for WCPS. In my role, I attend numerous WCPS events and meetings to take pictures, videos, and to obtain information for content creation and marketing purposes. In order to increase school pride within the schools, draw readers into the experience of the district, and ensure community support, I create content to capture the stories that are occurring both in and out of the classroom. It is my joy to serve as the storyteller for this tremendous school district.
