Lower East Side Of Manhattan

My responsibilities including grant writing and fundraising. I researched funding sources and prepared grant applications, proposals and narrative reports. I also assisted in special projects including attaining community support for a permanent housing development for formerly homeless families which was eventually built.

Union Square

I was responsible for all aspects of the proposal cycle including processing of all grants, preparing material for and following-up on issues raised in the Board of Director meetings and providing technical assistance to grantees. I assisted in the foundation bookkeeping. I supervised an intern. I also represented the foundation at meetings and conferences.

Manhattan

I organized coalitions in two New York City communities, East Harlem and Bushwick, to promote and expand federally funded child nutrition programs. I worked in partnership with community organizations, churches, schools, parent groups, elected officials and others to develop a local plan of action to improve the nutrition and well-being of children.

I assisted the director in all agency operations. I directed a scattered site homeless shelter program for families and single women in recovery. My responsibilities included hiring, training and supervision of the social service staff, program development and evaluation, grant writing, community networking and direct counseling.
