I am foremost a journalist and storyteller who has worked in print, radio, TV and online platforms. Includes almost two decades as a staff writer at the Miami Herald, where I was on two Pulitzer Prize-winning teams, and writing or editing posts at CNN Latino, Voxxi.com and Univision, where my team won an Emmy for investigative news on my very first assignment. I still write freelance for multiple magazines and websites.As a media consultant, I advise private clients and organizations on social media and earned media strategies. I have also written and produced paid media material and coordinated campaigns. Because of my background as a journalist, I have a very successful rate with pitched stories.I am comfortable on multiple platforms, as a one-time reporter for CNN Latino, and frequent local television and radio guest commentator. I also co-hosted a radio show called Havana Rock on 670 AM every Sunday afternoon for a short while in the 1990s, transmitting news and music to Cuba at a time (the "special period") when they had relatively little information coming in.I have also written a political blog (politicalcortadito.com) since 2010, winning the 2015 Hispanicize Tecla Award for best political blog, and have ghost written blogs (and op-eds) in both Spanish and English for private clients -- which includes doctors, lawyers, architects and even a college president.I have also dabbled in music management -- if you have a band that wants gigs and/or exposure.I am currently in the process of developing more websites and blogs and I have written half a TV series about a local dysfunctional city government where the mayor won by absentee ballot fraud, but everyone thinks it was Santeria.
