In this role, I became more proficient in our standardized product stack in JavaScript with React.js in a functional style. I developed a fondness for test-driven-development, writing unit tests in Jest. My attention to detail was valued by my teammates, development manager, product manager, and our UX team as I was able to catch inconsistencies and raise them before release.In addition to my development responsibilities, I continued to develop my passion for planning events for my team and company that allow for relationship building. I am proudest of my efforts to continue in this role throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.

In my first role as a frontend software developer, I was trained in ClojureScript. I quickly enjoyed the beauty of functional programming and contributed to bug fixes during my first week in the role. One of my proudest accomplishments from this time happened in off-hours when my colleagues and I pair-programmed to write our own version of Tetris to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the game: https://github.com/imalooney/t3tr0s. This project helped me to learn how to effectively break problems down to their simplest parts. I organized both a company event and a Meetup to share our work with the greater community in memorable fashion.

I was brought into this role by a former boss primarily to rework the company website; although I did not have experience with this specific kind of work, I was trusted with the role because of my past demonstration of being a quick and enthusiastic learner. Through the website redevelopment project, I became interested in pursuing web or software development further.
