Despite how I major in Computer Science, I have a variety of work experiences from an office job to a peer teacher. I've been able to succeed and learn in many ways because of this versatility. For one, I am able to apply my computer skills in industries outside computers or technology. The most recent application I had built named PDFSorter is still being implemented at KEM Energy. Beyond just brushing up on my skills, that had given me insight on what commercial applications could be in demand that could make use of my programming ability. In addition, I'm able to learn quickly no matter what the job requires. At my current position as a cybersecurity analyst apprentice for the Texas A&M IT department, I work with full-time employees and previous apprentices on threat detection and handling of malicious activity in the university’s network. Though I was familiar with many of the computer science aspects of scripting applications in the job, my knowledge of cybersecurity was limited. However, within 1 week of the job, I had gotten down the general processes of handling security incidents by memory. Overall, I've always wanted to attain new experiences or learn something from everywhere I work because I want to find opportunities to expand on my capabilities with computers, interact with different people, and become even more well rounded as a programmer and a person.
