MIT mechanical engineering alumna with an MSE in Marine Engineering from U-Mich.Experienced with thermal-fluids engineering, nonlinear dynamics simulations, MATLAB, product design, CAD, machining, mechanical testing, and assistive technology design.During my undergraduate studies, I initially focused on assistive technology: I participated in MIT’s Assistive Technology Hackathon, collaboratively designed a wheelchair add-on in my senior Product Design capstone, and completed my senior thesis with the MIT Media Lab Biomechatronics group to characterize the material properties of a novel prosthetic socket liner.In the meantime, I discovered a passion for thermal-fluids engineering, inspired by an excellent thermal-fluids course. While most engineering students dread these topics, I enjoy them, so in a subsequent course on experimental design, I conducted a heat transfer experiment. I selected the sensors, collected samples, measured their physical properties, and utilized uncertainty analysis to confirm an analytical relationship from the thermal-fluids class. I then took an elective in ocean engineering in which I presented on the jet propulsion of invertebrate salps.These courses encouraged me to shift my focus from assistive technology to fluids and ocean engineering.
