As a Residential Coordinator at Shelter House’s domestic violence shelter I am tasked with ensuring the safe functioning of the shelter and maintaining a safe environment for clients. I work closely with clients and their children allowing me to build rapport and create supportive relationships. Other duties include administrative duties, data collection while maintaining confidentiality, collaboration with other agencies, client assessments and intakes. A career achievement would be that I was trusted with managerial duties such as training new employees on policies, procedures and employee tasks. This job has enhanced my skills in communication, crisis intervention, safety planning, collaboration, adaptability and customer service.

While apart of an emotional support hotline I provided emotional support, crisis intervention, and suicide prevention to callers in emotional distress. This job gave me skills in various areas of support, active listening, and de-escalation techniques.

During my employment at George Mason University as a Peer Advisor I co-taught two entry level courses. My duties included creating lesson plans, grading assignments, meeting 1 on 1 with students, and addressing student concerns. My greatest achievement during this job was assisting a class in their smooth transition to an international university amid constant changing covid-19 restrictions. This job supplied me with experience teaching, problem solving and collaborating.

As a Qualified Behavior Technician (QBT) I created an engaging environment for several clients with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) to improve behavior. I also helped clients learn new skills, collaborated with BACBAs and parents. My greatest achievement while working as a QBT was introducing an alternative positive reinforcement method that was added to a clients IEP plan. This job provided me with experience working with IDD, patient care, and behavior redirection techniques.
