Currently writing a biograhy of Barbara Dusty Roads, an American Airlines Stewardess and union lobbyist to Congress who fought sexual discrimination in the airline industry during the 1950s and 60s and won. She was instrumental in overturning the 1953 airline policy that forced Stewardesses to retire at age thirty-two because the airlines considered them too old to handle their job duties by then, a concept inconceivable to women today. A womens rights and labor trailblazer, Dusty was the first person in the United States to file a discrimination complaint on behalf of her colleague, Jean Montague, over the age rule with the Equal employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) when the agency opened their doors in 1965. She inspired changes to inequitable aviation employment barriers for both women and men.
