As a Leisure Attendant, my primary responsibility was ensuring the safety of pool users by monitoring the pool area and administering first aid or lifesaving skills when required. I was also tasked with preparing the pool and setting up various activities, including badminton, table tennis, netball, and football, ensuring everything was ready and properly organised for scheduled sessions. Additionally, I maintained high standards of cleanliness throughout the leisure centre, ensuring all areas were regularly cleaned and up to standard. During busy periods or when staffing was low, I also supported the reception team, providing assistance to ensure smooth operations.

As a Swim Teaching Assistant, I was responsible for preparing and setting up the necessary equipment for each session, as well as ensuring all participants were properly signed in. My primary focus was engaging with the children during lessons, particularly comforting and assisting those who were anxious or frightened, which often involved handling distressed or crying children. Additionally, I frequently stepped in to teach classes in the instructor’s absence, which required confidently managing a full group, maintaining their attention, and adapting lesson plans to accommodate various learning styles. I regularly conducted these lessons in both Welsh and English to ensure each child received instruction in their preferred language. Additionally, I often interacted with parents who were eager for their children to progress quickly, addressing their concerns and managing expectations professionally.
