Driven by a profound commitment to improving community well-being, I've been privileged to serve in transformative roles and contribute to maternal-child and community health programs throughout Southwest Michigan. My impactful work began after my certification as a full-spectrum community doula in 2011 (Baby #58 was born July '23). My tenure with Kalamazoo County Nurse-Family Partnership was instrumental in teaching me the basics of public health, community nursing, outreach, and the importance of partnerships with the community. As the Director of Birth Justice at Rootead, I led a groundbreaking initiative combating high Black infant mortality rates through the training and empowerment of community-based birth workers (doulas). Having now returned to my public health roots at Kalamazoo County Health & Community Services, I promote health and parenting education through providing direct services to area families in my position with Health Families America. I am passionate about creating long-lasting, positive change and am eager to collaborate on initiatives that foster community well-being.
