- Collaborated with surgeons at Greenville Hospital System to assess a clinical need to begin design concept generation.- Researched market and intellectual property landscape in the beginning phases of product development to ensure our solution was novel and possibly patentable.- Iteratively designed and produced medical device prototypes following required design inputs (generated from House of Quality and Six Sigma QFD matrices, and in line with FDA and ISO standards for surgical instruments).- Created test protocol and performed Verification/Validation testing that would generate statistically significant results to assure that the design was appropriate for the scope of its intended use. Performed Design Failure Mode Effect Analysis to determine severity of failure during end-user utilization, and considered the implications of failures on our design.
