About Elari Kingo

I have been working in the printing industry as a pre-press specialist for the past 20 years. Currently, I am working as the manager of the pre-press department at Kroonpress AS. I have also been a visiting lecturer at Tartu Art School since 2004.Pre-press is one of the first and most important steps in any printing industry. These days it involves getting the digital files from clients and making sure they are ready to print. Right now there are a lot of different software packages that enable any person with a computer to design. But to turn the design into a quality printed product that reflects the wishes of the customer is a skill that is not so common. It requires an eye for detail as well as patience. As a pre-press specialist, my job is not just to make sure that the files are ok. I also inform and educate my customers so that we create workflows that consistently work every time. This is one of the things that I love about my job. I am not just a person sitting in front of the machines. I am actively communicating with customers so they know the best practices that can make our jobs easier and deliver quality results. I am also a visiting lecturer at Tartu Art school, where I teach subjects such as Color Theory and Offset Printing. This has been a very rewarding experience for me, more so because my students today will become my customers later. I need to teach them what I have learned in the two decades of professional work so that they can perform their work well and deliver to the highest standards of quality when they step into their professional lives. I also like to keep myself updated on the latest developments that are happening in the printing industry.
