Hoot2Go was an application to help pre-schools communicate with parents. It makes communication efficient, effective, and recorded for future evaluation.I learned to consider all stakeholders when starting a business, especially the decision makers, in this case schools. Hoot2Go was a very good app for parents (I did focus group discussion, survey, interview) and they loved it. But the opposite was true for school. The amount of work done by teachers would still the same but they have to learn new technology. Therefore, schools were reluctant to adopt it as there was no immediate economic benefit for them. It would surely make parents happy, but it did not necessarily translate to more students and revenue.

I was tasked to improve operational efficiency and accuracy. I led the renovation effort of the office to improve space utility and to increase customer comfort. I led the IT migration effort to integrated and more modern IT system. It demanded highest level of attention to detail and problem solving skill as it involves with customers record (and money). Understanding of overall banking system and operation were critical for the success the of migration.

I did the sales tasks such as promoting products, explaining products and processes of loan application to potential customers, and helping them to apply until they got the loan. With the experience and know-how, I began to establish a sales team of 5 to further expand the sales efforts. I recruited the people, trained them, established rules, made sales book as a standardised way to promote a product, created marketing campaign, and developed a simple Customer Relationship Management software.In less than two years, outstanding loan increased by two times.

This was a web-based travel buddy finder. The premise was to find friends to travel with because in most cases, travelling together is cheaper than travelling alone. It had social-networking features where users could follow others, upload photos (along with like and comment), write reviews, and create trips. I built the technology using Postgres-Django stack. For front end, I use SCSS and jQuery.This experience has taught me to focus, be lean and start with MVP. It is important to test which feature (idea) that will work, and hammer on that idea. Too many features will render the business impossible to develop/maintain, especially for startup where there was only limited capacity to manage the technology.
