Bringing together the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 134 electricians and the Electrical Contractors’ Association (ECA) of the City of Chicago, Powering Chicago is an electrical industry labor-management partnership that invests in consistently better construction, better careers and better communities within the metro Chicago region.

The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local Union No. 134 and the Electrical Contractors’ Association of the City of Chicago sponsor, through the Electrical Joint Apprenticeship and Training Trust, an apprenticeship program in Cook County, Illinois. Electricians assemble, install, maintain, and test electrical equipment and wiring systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. The apprentice program is five years in duration, and is registered with the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training. The program consists of on-the-job training provided by union electrical contractors, and related classroom instruction.
