I am Eldar Abdrazakov, Founder & CEO of the Centras Group, a trailblazing force in Kazakhstan's business arena. With a rare track record of a seasoned banker transitioned to a dynamic entrepreneur, I've earned recognition as the EY Entrepreneur of The Year 2023 National Award Winner.Establishing Centras in 2004, I transformed it from an investment advisory boutique into an innovation powerhouse. Pioneering the country's first mutual fund in 2005 and an international private equity fund in 2007, Centras commands leading market positions in insurance, financial, and consumer services. Our insurance subsidiaries, Centras Insurance and Kommesk-Omir, serve over 1.5 million customers annually, holding a Top3 position in non-captive insurance. In a strategic collaboration with RBI in 2022, Centras embarked on developing Popeyes restaurants in Kazakhstan. My journey in Kazakhstan's financial landscape began at Kazkommertsbank, the country's largest bank, in 1995, where I served as the Managing Director, Head of Investment Bank, Treasury & Subsidiaries, later becoming the CEO of Kazkommerts Securities.Currently, I serve on the Boards of Kazakhstan Stock Exchange and Air Astana, and lead public roles like chairing the Kazakhstan Competitiveness Council. As the Chairman of YPO's Kazakhstan Chapter and the Champion of the 2017 YPO European Regional Conference, I also bring leadership to diverse forums.My commitment extends to academia with two terms on Harvard University's Advisory Board on Russia & Eurasia and the launch of Harvard's Program on Central Asia in 2018. As the Founder of the Kazakhstan Growth Forum, a private-sector development think tank, and initiator of the "Professionalize Kazakhstan" social initiative, I actively contribute to societal development.I hold university and master's degrees from Yassawi University, Kazakhstan, and completed the General Management Program (GMP8) at Harvard Business School.
