As Senior Toxicologist at Merial Limited, my responsibilities included supporting the Department Head in the conduct of toxicological evaluations of formulations in development, as well as their active pharmaceutical ingredients and excipients. Implementing and report laboratory animal safety studies and environmental fate/toxicity studies to support development and registration of new products, as well as, product claim extensions across all franchises. Authoring target animal safety, user and consumer health risk assessments and environmental impact assessments. Providing accurate and timely internal technical reviews, position papers, white papers, data summaries, risk assessments based on critical analyses of literature and data. Analyzing literature and data to generate detailed expert toxicological summaries and arguments for ADI and MRL determinations. Representing Drug Safety and Disposition (DSD) on Development Project Teams. Discussing technical strategies with members of DSD and the project teams and implementing those plans. Identifying contract laboratories, contracting and monitoring safety studies, and maintaining testing costs and timelines. Providing SDS stewardship for Merial investigational and registered products by assisting in toxicological evaluations, risk assessments and regulatory hazard (i.e. GHS) classifications, assessing information to assist with product registration and the production of SDSs and labels.
