As a trainee Educational Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP) I work as part of the Mental Health Support Team in Schools (MHST) to support children and young people with mental health support needs in an education-based setting.I work across a number of primary and secondary schools to deliver early intervention help to young people and parents/guardians, and also consider whole-school approaches to better mental health and wellbeing. This includes auditing current wellbeing provision, supporting teachers and other school staff to explore wellbeing concerns, and delivering events such as workshops and assemblies on a variety of mental health and wellbeing topics.My first year is a training year. My working week is split between completing my postgraduate diploma course (PGDip Mental Health Practice in Education Settings) at the University of Exeter and developing my caseload in education settings. Upon completion of my training year I will progress to full time work as a qualified EMHP with a larger caseload.

I was the Senior Carer responsible for the mentoring of new staff, delivery of the COVID testing program, and regular staff performance reviews.

As a Care Assistant, I provided daily support and assistance to a variety of residents in order to meet their individual needs. This included assistance with a wide range of tasks such as personal care, oral care, nutritional support, light housekeeping work, moving and handling, and physical and mental health monitoring and support. Throughout COVID this also involved providing significant emotional support to both residents and their families who struggled with national restrictions on visiting.

As a freelance test purchaser for the Age Check Certification Scheme, I was responsible for ensuring that businesses in the retail sector were compliant in the sale of age-restricted goods. This involved a variety of products (e.g. alcohol, knives, tobacco etc.) and purchasing formats (e.g. in-store visits and online deliveries). My main roles were assessing compliance through use of standardised procedures, and then writing detailed reports to help reduce the level of risk that age-restricted goods can pose to individuals and communities when sold inappropriately.
