Senior Ecologist
CurrentAs a project lead for Habitat Bank initiatives, I manage all aspects of project delivery, from initiation to habitat creation and ongoing monitoring, ensuring projects meet timelines, budgets, and objectives. I conduct ecological surveys, including site walkovers, habitat classification, and more specialized botanical assessments, using this data to prepare Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) assessments and calculations utilizing the Biodiversity Metric.I lead habitat design and the creation of Habitat Management Plans (HMPs), providing technical direction and using GIS for digital mapping and habitat proposals. My role involves close collaboration with landowners and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle, fostering strong relationships to ensure project success. Additionally, I support the Capital Works Team in the delivery and implementation of habitat creation, including managing subcontractors, procurement, and HSSE compliance.I oversee monitoring surveys for offset sites and existing habitat banks, updating management plans in consultation with landowners. My work also includes writing detailed reports, conducting research, and reviewing external ecological guidance.Staying current with developments in BNG and Natural Capital, I apply the latest knowledge to inform decision-making. I mentor junior ecologists, providing technical guidance and supporting their professional growth. In addition, I contribute to business development by identifying new project opportunities, preparing proposals, and participating in client meetings and presentations.
