As an NHS Medical Secretary in the Acute Pediatrics Department, I provide comprehensive administrative support to consultants, junior doctors, and the wider clinical team. My role involves managing patient correspondence, scheduling appointments, handling referrals, and ensuring timely communication with families and healthcare professionals. I maintain accurate patient records, prioritize urgent tasks, and facilitate the smooth operation of the department, contributing to the delivery of high-quality care for children with acute medical needs.

In this temporary role I am covering maternity leave within the department. I work within the orthopaedic surgical pre-assessment department where I spend my time booking appointments, ordering and prepping patient notes, ensuring the consultants and anesthetists receive their patient notes in ample time, and contacting patients with regards to their appointments.

This was a short term role to cover sickness within the school admissions team within the council, however benefited my understanding of administrative roles. I provided clerical support for both service users and members of staff, including filing, scanning, minute taking, answering emails and telephone calls, creating and managing databases, data entry, working out time schedules, and working with confidential and sensitive information.

Alongside my studies I also have worked part time within the Sainsburys company, both for Argos in store and Sainsburys itself. During this role I was involved in basic sales, organizing and replenishing stock, assisting refits, and working with sales targets.
