Graphic Structures is an engineering design studio providing creative structural and civil engineering design for buildings and their surrounding infrastructure. As specialists in the design and construction of buildings we provide well considered, efficient engineering, drawing on our experience of designing buildings within and around London.The studio is owned and run by founding Directors, Eleanor Ball and Mark Mawby. Our Directors are actively involved in project delivery, supporting our engineers to design high quality, sustainable buildings. We make a positive contribution to the design team through proactive communication of our design using graphical forms such as REVIT 3D to coordinate structure and architecture at pre-planning stage and beyond.

A varied project portfolio including education, extra care facilities, private residential with a specialism in large-scale residential developments. Design experience across all standard materials plus cross laminated timber and modular construction. Secondment to Crossrail project C360 for six months to work as a site engineer for the enabling works at Mile End including site set up and the construction of a new coach park with deep drainage. Management of day to day running of the site, workload of a graduate engineer and safe working procedures including permits and site inductions. Responsible for monitoring the quality of work produced by sub contractors and producing method statements, quality check sheets and material compliance records.

A focus on design of schools, especially those included the Building Schools for the Future framework. Projects included:Marriots Lonsdale School, Stevenage with Balfour Beatty and Architecture PLB. Steel frame with metal decking combined with Balfour Beatty modular system. Project value: £45m.Eastlea School, Newham with Architecture PLB and Laing O’Rourke. Extensions and refurbishment to the existing school. Extensions designed and built using Laing O’Rourke pre cast concrete system with lattice slab and twinwall. Project value: £12m.Passmores School, Harlow with Jestico and Whiles Architects and Willmott Dixon. Reinforced concrete flat slab frame with an oval, central atrium and assembly hall in steel and a cross laminated timber sports hall by Urban. Project value: £22m.
