This role involves working on a till, taking orders, preparing bar drinks and hot drinks including various coffees, working with demanding customers and meeting the needs of well-known or VIP guests. I have served in business conferences, banquets, and taken responsibility for larger parties. The main skills benefited from this role have been teamwork, as we share roles to ensure our guests receive the most efficient and highest quality service possible, and problem-solving in order to guarantee the satisfaction of our more demanding guests.

Involves mentoring secondary school pupils both personally and academically. Our key aims are to aid them to improve their attainment and to encourage them to stay in education. This has helped to develop my organisational skills as I prepare mentoring sessions for the pupils in advance, as well as communication as I speak to pupils of a range of ages, and adaptability skills so I can tailor the sessions to each pupil's needs and understanding.

This role involved meeting challenging strike rates set each session, and helped me to learn a polite telephone manner and experience working with demanding clients in challenging situations. This helped to develop problem-solving skills when clients were less willing to speak with us, and communication skills.
