In my role with Farm Radio International, I manage the blog. During the 2023-24 fiscal year, I wrote or coordinated the writing of 50 blog posts highlighting the charity’s projects in sub-Saharan Africa related to agriculture, gender equality and climate change.In addition, I collaborate with colleagues to gather content for, write, edit and produce four different kinds of newsletters aimed at different audiences (either donors, partners or staff), meeting regular deadlines. I’ve standardized and improved the process for the monthly staff newsletter to increase consistency and representation of staff from across the organization. I have also co-managed the production of the 2023-24 Annual Report, keeping teams on track and ensuring milestones are met.In this role, I provide support for media relations, fundraising, digital marketing and virtual events. I am also the Canada representative on the Green Team.

Through Youth Challenge International’s Innovate MY Future program, I volunteered in a team of youth to design and execute a project tackling food waste in Halton Region. As the social media lead, I managed our Instagram account and grew the audience to 100+ followers. I also designed Instagram graphics using Canva and established Fair Food Halton’s visual identity.To keep the project moving forward, I organized meetings and agendas and delegated tasks to the other volunteers.

I worked in a remote team to develop strategies and tactics for growing and boosting engagement in a Facebook group for youth pursuing impact-driven careers. My tasks included creating social media posts and blog posts and promoting webinars featuring social impact professionals. I also helped develop two feedback forms to learn about members and their preferences and analyzed results.

During my internship and summer job with EcoSchools Canada, I created social media copy and graphics, scheduled posts using Hootsuite and tracked social media analytics. I also wrote two blog posts, a magazine article and a news release announcing schools’ certification results. After compiling a media list, I distributed the news release to journalists via email and helped respond to media requests.In addition, I used my digital skills and attention to detail to perform routine updates to the WordPress website, build updated web pages, and make and send Mailchimp emails directed at schools and donors.

In this remote position, I worked under minimal supervision to produce high-quality content, including weekly e-newsletters, blog posts and promotional Facebook posts for an audience of over 11,000 followers. I communicated clearly and courteously with customers via instant messaging to answer and process 10 to 15 inquiries and booking requests daily, significantly increasing the business’s response rate.I also found additional online platforms for promoting the ranch’s services and events, created listings and updated them to keep information consistent across platforms. In addition, I emailed school principals and teachers to organize and coordinate more than 100 virtual petting farm visits for 45 different schools in Nova Scotia and Ontario as a source of revenue during a pandemic lockdown.

For this remote freelance position, I performed internet research into home and garden topics to write and edit list articles of up to 2,000 words. I followed detailed SEO guidelines to submit two to three articles per week, including meta descriptions and engaging titles, incorporating keyword phrases.
