I worked with the OnRamps team at UT Austin to deliver a UT level geology course in Texas high schools. We piloted in 11 schools in the 2015-16 academic year, with the goal of increasing that every year until we are across the state. GeoFORCE Texas is the largest outreach program of its kind, targeting high school students (about 600 every summer) and exposing them to geosciences through a spectacular summer field program. Students participate for all 4 years in high school, and we continue to track and mentor them through college. I was in charge of the mentoring program with GeoFORCE Texas, as well as the data and reporting for the program. I ran the GeoFORCE Graduates Scholarship program, and other scholarship programs for GeoFORCE, distributing as much as over $1M annually, and providing mentoring for scholarship students. I served as Interim Director from 9/12-10/13 supervising a staff of 9, and managing a $1.8M budget, more than half of that coming from gifts and grants.In 2015, GeoFORCE was awarded the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics, and Engineering Mentoring.
