Housing, Social Protection and Gender - Policy Monitoring and Social Technology Service UnitKey roles:- Urban poor: Developed situationers for the 14 basic sectors based on the Labor Force Survey (LFS) & Family Income Expenditure Survey (FIES) datasets and presented to focal persons for, and representatives of the urban poor, workers of the informal sector and women to determine priority projects and activities- Social Protection: provided assistance to the Undersecretary in coordination with SSS for the proposal on subsidies based on LFS & FIES datasets; participated in the Assessment-Based National Dialogue on Social Protection; assisted in data mining for Workers in the Informal Sector- Gender: generated and analyzed gender-disaggregated data per region; conducted case study on role of women cooperatives in strengthening access to water in urban poor communities- Transit-oriented Development: generated policy proposal on housing and transit oriented development as roadmap to poverty alleviation (in coordination w/ NEDA); prepared policy paper on value-capture mechanism as sustainable alternative for LGUs.

Project: Department of Foreign Affairs (DFAT)- Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID)’s Technical Assistance to the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) on Government of the Philippines Program for Securing the Safety of Informal Settler Families (ISFs) in Metro ManilaTA Component 1: Socio-economic profiling and Community Organizing Coordinated with field supervisors, field interviewers and community organizers and liased with pertinent government agencies (i.e., DILG, NHA, PCUP); monitored the status of socio-economic organizing and Focus Group Discussions, documented and prepared post-disaster needs assessment (PDNA) and vulnerability assessments based on FGDs; identified best practices in the conduct of risk assessment per LGU; provided assistance to the Socioeconomic Specialist in developing manual for encoding of questionnaires
